The experience of establishing a perinatal center in the Kirovohrad region will be applied in all other regions of our state, President Viktor Yanukovych said at an expanded meeting of the New Life national project Supervisory Board in Kirovohrad, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

"This pilot project is complete and we are starting to apply this experience throughout Ukraine," he said.

In the near future, Viktor Yanukovych said, similar perinatal centers would be opened in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, and by the end of the year –in the Zhytomyr and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Yanukovych has instructed Healthcare Minister Oleksandr Anishchenko to conduct an extended consultation meeting to discuss applying Kirovohrad region’s experience of establishing a perinatal center in other regions of Ukraine.

According to the President, the meeting should gather Regional Administrations’ deputy chairmen, heads of local healthcare departments, medical staff.

"Perinatal centers are the question number one in Ukraine. And these are not mere pilot projects. The Kirovohrad region has shown how to do it," he said, urging local leaders not to delay the implementation of relevant reforms.
