Fourteen Crimean Tatar organizations that are in opposition to the Majlis - the representative body of the Crimean Tatars - have teamed up into the Crimean Tatar People's Front.

The new association was supported by two members of the Crimean Tatar parliament from the Party of Regions, Edip Gafarov and Lentun Bezaziyev, UKRINFORM reports.

A memorandum on the creation of the front states that its main goal is to achieve the adoption in Ukraine of a law on the restoration of rights and the rehabilitation of repressed Crimean Tatar people.

The Majlis described the creation of the front as "another attempt to split the Crimean Tatars before elections."

Earlier, last November, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Dzhemilev predicted that inter-ethnic problems could escalate in the Crimean autonomy after the appointment of former Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov as Crimean prime minister.

Dzhemilev also said that there was a plan to destabilize the situation in Crimea. Moreover, this plan was developed by Russian special services, he said. According to the plan by Russian special services, it is planned to form a new political movement, which should assume the function of a new, powerful and firm opposition to the Majlis.
