Public information campaign against xenophobia and racism "Feel cultural variety" has started in Ukraine.

The project was presented at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday. The campaign project is realized by the International organization on migration with assistance of American Association of Jurists and Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor under the U.S. Department of State.
"Racism and xenophobia are based on disrespect to other cultures, religions and values. The best weapon against it is education. This information campaign is called to explain citizens, especially young people, that we must respect each other and welcome our diversity," director of the program in Ukraine Michael Lechner said.

Organizers of the project have made posters and shot videos to broadcast on TV and radio, as well on metro monitors. Video clips calls upon the youth to be open for other cultures and to get over stereotypes.

The campaign is intended to cover five cities of Ukraine, namely Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovs'k, Odesa and Simferopol, as in these very cities the extreme right groups are mostly active.
