In 2011 tax police forces recovered 488.3 million hryvnias, deputy chairman of the State Tax Service of Ukraine and head of the tax police Andriy Holovach said during a meeting of the department, ForUm reports.
"Total sum of recovered damage on completed criminal case made 488.3 million hryvnias, which is two times more than in 2010. In fact, this is the biggest rate of recovered damage on criminal cases for the whole period of existence of the tax police," he noted.
At the same time Holovach underlined that the main task of the tax police is additional tax returns, "not imprisonment of criminals."
"Those, who violated the law, will have to get in to the last cent and to pay additional fines," the official summed up.
