The Dutch national football team is considering the possibility of accommodation in Donetsk (eastern Ukraine) during the EURO 2012 European Football Championship, Donetsk Mayor Oleksandr Lukyanchenko has said.

"We expect a very large delegation from the Netherlands, which hopes that the team will perform successfully in the group stage and quarterfinals. Therefore, the delegation headed by the federation's president will come to the city to examine [training] bases and accommodation in the city," Lukyanchenko said, according to UKRINFORM.

The mayor expressed hope that other European teams would also want to stay in Donetsk.

The Netherlands will play all of the matches of the EURO 2012 group stage in Kharkiv. Taking into account the fact, the Dutch Embassy in Ukraine will open a consular office in Kharkiv at the time of the EURO 2012 European Football Championship, the second secretary at the Dutch Embassy in Ukraine, Rogier van Tooren, has said.

"Our work is designed to ensure the safe and at the same time fun pastime of fans, both on match days, and after them. The office will provide support for all Dutch fans. The temporary consular office will ensure that none of our fans get lost. I will act as coordinator of this center," the diplomat said.

As reported, the French national football decided to stay in Donetsk during EURO 2012. Among other participants in the tournament, only Swedes and Ukrainians will also live in Ukraine.
