A volunteer team of UEFA EURO 2012 has been formed: 5,500 volunteers have been selected after nearly 13,000 interviews held in all the eight Ukrainian and Polish cities hosting finals of the European Cup over the past three months, the press service of the Local Organizing Committee EURO 2012 Ukraine reported, according to UKRINFORM.

"We are very satisfied with the work of volunteers during the final draw, when 246 volunteers helped us, each of whom was co-organizer of this major event. They worked on 9 areas in all the official places - airports, hotels and Ukraina palace," Markiyan Lubkivsky, director of the tournament in Ukraine, said.

In January or February, contracts with volunteers will be signed, distance learning will begin in March, and training will take place in April and May. Directly operating activities will begin in late April and last until early July 2012.
