Consideration of the draft bill on gas transportation system will depend on explanations by the Cabinet, speaker of the parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
In speaker's opinion, this draft bill raises doubts regarding expediency of its adoption. "In accordance with the European standards, we cannot have monopoly on extraction and transportation of gas. Hence, we must adopt the law stipulating division of functions regarding extraction and transportation. As for possible lend-lease, concession or privatization of the gas transportation system, we should discuss this issue," Lytyvn said.
The speaker noted that the main task for the moment is to hold independent and unbiased estimation of GTS value by respected experts.
"The question is on what conditions. I suggested considering this question when the government informs the parliament on every detail. The fate of draft bill on GTS depends on government's readiness to answer the questions and to report before the society," the speaker summed up.
