It is important to start transferring more functions and powers to the regions in 2012, President Viktor Yanukovych stressed at a meeting of the Committee on Economic Reforms, presidential press office reports.
"We had agreed on that, and I demand, Mr. Prime Minister, that you looked into the matter of what we have planned for this year in terms of transferring rights and functions to the regions. I hope that significant improvement of administrative services’ quality will be made this year and we have to keep in mind that these services will be provided primarily in the regions," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych also added that it is important to prepare the appropriate amendments to the legislation. “The authority will be transferred from the center to the regions ... The approach here should be planned and targeted. And we should solve this issue not formally, but practically," he stressed.
