Foreign Ministry of Czech Republic refutes information of Czech mass medias on that Czech interior and foreign ministers discussed the issue regarding granting political asylum to Yulia Tymoshenko's husband.
"Foreign Ministry of Czech Republic refutes information on that granting asylum issue was discussed by country's Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg and Interior Minister Jan Kubice," the official statement of the Foreign Ministry says.
According to the Czech Foreign Ministry, the granting asylum is a standard and apolitical process, independent of the Foreign Ministry. The decision on granting asylum must be made by Interior Ministry only. "Asylum granting process is standard, non politic and fully independent of the MFA. The Ministry cannot make any statement concerning its course and is not required by applicable law to do so. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cares very much about having good relations with Ukraine which has been confirmed during the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov’s successful visit to Prague last December," the official statement reads.
