Campgrounds and pickets near the Kachanivka colony on January 5 and 6, planned by the opposition party Batkivshchyna in support of their leader, Yulia Tymoshenko, were prohibited by a decision of Kharkiv District Administrative Court, UKRINFORM reported with reference to the press service of the City Council.

"The City Council substantiated its claim by the fact that the holding of public events around the colony is contrary to the law. The Kachanivka colony is a special protected facility," the statement says.

Moreover, as explained by the press service, the organizers of the picket did not file timely a notice of its conduct, which did not allow local authorities to organize a protest so that it would not harm the health of its participants and other citizens.
Today, according to a deputy chairman of the Kharkiv regional chapter of the opposition party Batkivshchyna, Valeriy Dudko, about fifty supporters of Yulia Tymoshenko came to Kharkiv from Kyiv for a rally in her support.
