From January 1, 2012 the resolution of the Lviv city council on limitation of retail of alcoholic drinks comes into force, hence banning the sale of alcoholic beverages in small shops and booths.

According to the Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi, special commissions under the department of economic policy and regional administrations will hold regular examinations of sale booths and small shops regarding the observance of the resolution. In case of violations, the owners will be reported and fined, and in case of repeated violations the enterprise-offenders will be deprived of licenses.

"This week we will just warn the owners of small shops and sale booths, but the next week we will hold examination jointly with police forces," he said.

"I support the idea of building separate departments in supermarkets for sale of alcoholic drinks and with separate entrance. In many countries there is such practice," the mayor added.

According to the resolution, the sale of alcoholic drinks in supermarkets of Lviv is limited by time - from 12.00 till 20.00 only.
