President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko and Security Service Chairman Valeriy Khoroshkovsky to investigate yesterday's bank robberies in the cities of Donetsk and Ismail. The aforementioned officials are to present their reports on the investigations by January 3, 2012, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
President Yanukovych instructed Minister Zakharchenko to also take immediate comprehensive measures to improve the protection of law and order, especially as citizens' personal safety is concerned.
In addition, the President instructed National Bank Chairman Serhiy Arbuzov and Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko to take urgent measures to enhance security of banks, and money transportation. They are to report on the actions taken by December 31, 2011.
As a reminder, the unknown armed robbers attacked an outlet of PrivatBank in Donetsk on Thursday at 03.15 p.m. The attackers broke into the VIP-clients office, took all the money and disappeared leaving five victims behind.
The same day, December 29, an unknown armed and masked robber broke into a department of the state bank in Ismail at noon. The attacker took about one thousand hryvnias and having made two shots in air disappeared.
