Ukraine's partners should take into account not only their own interests, but there must be mutual respect in partnership, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with "Evenings with Vitaliy Korotych" TV Program on the First National TV Channel.

"We cannot allow somebody to ignore our interests. We must work with our partners so that these relations are based on mutual respect... I am indignant when, for example, Ukraine is a member of the Energy Community, but nobody asks us about anything and our interests are violated, i.e. they ignore our partnership relations, agree quietly and build, for example, a natural gas storage facility in Serbia," he said, UKRINFORM reported.

Yanukovych said that this storage facility was being built under the South Stream project. "So we see that they started bypassing us again. They say one thing, but the charter of the Energy Community states that this cannot be done without the consent of the members of the Energy Community... But this has already been done, and nobody agreed anything with us," he said.

The president added that remarks are made to Ukraine when it plans to do so that it is beneficial to itself. "How should we treat this? We will have a fully correct answer: if you ignore us and if we see that we will lose and suffer from this, then we will pursue such a policy that we need," Yanukovych said.
