Head of the parliamentary committee on education, MP from the Party of Regions Maxim Lutski believes that independence of universities and increase of education quality are possible only under the condition of reduction of the number of educational institutes.

"We have both private and state universities, diplomas of which can be easily put in garbage. This issue must be solved at first. We need to reduce the number of universities and to broad financial, academic and social independence of the remaining ones," the MP told journalists speaking about the adoption of a new version of the law "On higher education".

According to him, Europe and the US have prestigious private universities, graduates of which are highly rated at the labour market. "Students there study two-three foreign languages; lectures are delivered by well-known specialists in this or that sphere. I am sure we can make something similar in Ukraine," the politician pointed out.

According to him, the form of property of a university does not influence the quality of education. "With the new law we give a possibility to both private and state universities to develop and improve the quality of education," Lutski underlined.
