President Viktor Yanukovych has met his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in Ankara on Thursday. The sides focused on the development of bilateral cooperation in various areas, including in the energy sector. The heads of state also stressed the importance of developing cultural and humanitarian ties between Ukraine and Turkey, press office of the Ukrainian president said in a statement.

Yanukovych and Gul also dwelt on increasing goods turnover between the states. "We understand that the sooner we remove all obstacles to business development, the faster the turnover will increase," Yanukovych underscored.

He also expressed confidence that the documents to be signed on the basis of today's meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Strategic High-Level Council will be a "short result of the work being done for the benefit of citizens of Ukraine and Turkey, two countries' economies and strengthening interpersonal relationships".
