The negotiations on Association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union are officially complete, President of the EU Council Herman van Rompuy announced during the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv, ForUm correspondent reports.
"We can publicly announce that the negotiations on association are finished," he said adding this is a big step regarding the relations between Ukraine and the EU. "It has decisive meaning.
In his turn, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso declared that the visa free regime between Ukraine and the EU will be introduced as soon as required conditions are fulfilled.
President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych noted that European society will not be complete without Ukraine. According to the President Ukraine understand the difficulties the EU is experiencing now. "In Ukraine we understand that the EU is experiencing difficult times, and as a result is very sensitive about further expansion. But the project of the united Europe will not be finished till such big counties as Ukraine are outside the union," he said.
The President also pointed out that Ukraine is ready for accelerated preparation and signing of the Association agreement.
