Leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov told a briefing he does not see any connection between possible failure of Ukraine-EU summit and refusal to decriminalize Tymoshenko's article.

In particular, answering the question whether he would feel guilty for failure of the summit because of the refusal of the ruling party to decriminalize the article of the Criminal Code, according to which Yulia Tymoshenko was convicted, Yefremov assured his conscience is clear. "My conscience is perfectly clear, as we have not agreed to violations," he said.

Yefremov underlined that possible failure of the summit has nothing to do with declarations of the opposition. "What are they saying? To decriminalize article which does not fall under UN convention?" The MP reminded that UN convention provides for criminal penalties for higher officials for their crimes.
