The other day the administration of the 'Kyiv' airport made a presentation of the international terminal, which is still under construction. According to the Director General of the enterprise Oleksandr Nesterenko, the goal of the presentation is to show the concept of new 'air gates', so that in case of some faults or remarks there was time to improve. ForUm joined the excursion to see the stages of the construction.
"In 2010 airport Kyiv finished reconstruction of the takeoff and landing strip, which allowed receiving middle-sized planes like В-737 and А320," Nesterenko said. - "On May of this year we started construction of a new terminal of total area 14 thousand square meters and with airport land side, parking for 300 cars and offices. The works are finished by 80%. The cost of works, including equipment, is 375 million hryvnias, and 128 million of the sum has been already used."
The area of the terminal reminds unfinished hypermarket: huge hall without any partitions. Parts of the airport are not recognizable yet.
According to Nesterenko, the works are financed from three sources: from the state budget (construction of takeoff strip), at the expense of private investor (construction of terminal) and from city budget (planning works).
"Out of 14 thousand square meters two thousand sq m are allocated for four restaurants, five bars, three duty free shops, two rooms of mother and child, booking offices, rental agencies, pharmacy, banks and other services. Additional platform for 14 planes В-737 and А-320 will be built near the terminal, launch of which is scheduled for April 2012," the official said.
Nesterenko also informed that 300 meters far from the main terminal another two-storied terminal for private jets with total area of 2.5 thousand square meters and with separate personnel will be built.
"The international terminal will be able to receive 520 passengers per hour. As for the old terminal, it will be reconstructed after Euro-2012 and used for domestic flights. Estimated budget is 90 million hryvnias," Nesterenko added.
A representative of the investor, winner of the tender, told the presentation that the part of their investment makes 370 million hryvnias. The state paid for construction of the network and project works at the amount of 180 million hryvnias, 60 million of which has already been drawn.
The presentation of the terminal was made by Ukrainian movie and theater star Olga Sumska. The guests were also presented an improvised area of the future duty free shops with goods to be sold there.
At the end of the excursion the guests were offered a flight over Kyiv. Unfortunately, it was impossible to enjoy evening Kyiv because of thick fog.
