President Viktor Yanukovych demands the police to enhance the efficiency of fighting against corruption and service activity abuses, he said at today’s celebration of Police Day, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
According to the President, the police should pay particular attention to combating crimes that cause "washout" of budget funds. "The police have become a reliable defender of the state's interests in combating economic crime. Budget funds must be safe from theft and waste," Viktor Yanukovych said.
Other important tasks of the police according to the President are fighting organized crime, drug trafficking, etc. The drew attention to the significant positive results of the measures to counter drug trafficking introduced last year. This year, the President said, 51,000 crimes in this area were uncovered, 285 international drug trafficking channels were eliminated, and over 9 tons of narcotics were seized.
"I put a task before the police to continue fighting this evil initiatively and rigorously. Please, remember that our people’s health depends on you," stressed the President of Ukraine.
