Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has registered his own trademark AZAROV at Ukrpatent, an authorized patent agency.

"To make counterfeit and fraudulent use of the name of Azarov impossible, the head of government, as a citizen, an individual, has registered "AZAROV trademark" at the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Industrial Property Institute," the Cabinet of Ministers said in a statement, according to UKRINFORM.

The reason for the registration of the AZAROV brand was the growing popularity of the Prime Minister's social network page on Facebook, and, therefore, the increased threat to using false name of Azarov.

As Ukrpatent explained, "a certificate of Ukraine for the sign for the goods and services empowers its holder to use the trademark and the exclusive right to prohibit others from using without his consent the registered trademark, the exclusive right to dispose of the right of the sign in accordance with Article 16 of the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Rights to Marks for Goods and Services" and other rights as defined by the law.
