The Kyiv Court of Appeals starts today considering the appeal of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of her conviction by the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv in the “gas case.”

The court session is taking place in the absence of Yulia Tymoshenko, who informed the detention facility and court that she is unable to attend due to health problems.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyers Serhiy Vlasenko, Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk, Mykola Siryi, Yuriy Sukhov, and Mykola Tytarenko, as well as her daughter Eugenia, are in attendance.

Several thousand of Tymoshenko's supporters have already gathered near the Court, and people keep coming. The protesters are holding BYuT flags.

Law enforcement representatives, as well as Special Forces "Berkut" have cordoned the territory of the Court and don't let anybody in, except for court workers, journalists and deputies.
