"The history and attitude of the citizens require from Ukraine to be a European country," said Lytvyn. "We have been negotiating the Agreement on Association, free trade zone and liberalization of visa regime for a long time, and I am grateful to Hungary for consistent support."
According to the leader of the Parliament, he supports initialing the Agreement at the Ukraine-EU Summit that will take place on December 19, 2011 in Kyiv.
In this context, Lytvyn noted that despite ‘some disappointment´ on the part of both Ukraine and EU, "European community and Ukraine need to take a decisive step without any imperative requests to one another. European choice is a political decision for Ukraine and it is bound to bring good economic results," he said.
According to Lytvyn, liberalization of visa regime will facilitate the realization of interests of national minorities that live in Ukraine "and are against visa barriers".

Martonyi also claimed that Hungary supports liberalization of visa regime between Ukraine and EU, and informed that he and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostiantyn Hryshchenko signed the Memorandum on cooperation in performing the action plan on liberalization of visa regime between Ukraine and EU today.
