Head of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov has confirmed that in the process of gas talks with Russia the sides are discussing the idea of creating three-sided consortium for further managing the Ukrainian gas transportation system, ForUm correspondent reports.

"If we keep politicizing this issue, our GTS will be managed not by gas workers, but by scrap metal collectors. I'll give you an example: for the moment our GTS is capable to transport 120 milliard cu m of gas annually. But if the North Stream pipeline starts working in full capacity and the South Stream is launched, our GTS will transport only 40 milliard of cu m, which is not enough to maintain the pipeline. We have to make a decision very fast. Now the specialists in this area are working out the possibility of creation of three-sided consortium among Ukraine, Russia and the EU. In my opinion, this is the only way out for maintaining the system in operation," the MP told a briefing.

Yefremov also added he knows about shares in the possible future gas consortium, but according to him it is too early to voice them out.
