Stanford University, one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions, may open its branch in Kyiv.

At the moment, a preliminary agreement has been already reached on this, deputy head of Kyiv City State Administration Ruslan Kramarenko said, UKRINFORM reports.

"A visit and concrete decisions will be made in February, when we, together with AmBAR (American Business Association of Russian Professionals) will hold a forum (of venture capital investment funds in Silicon Valley, scheduled for February-March 2012 - ed.)," Kramarenko emphasized.

In addition, according to Kramarenko, now Kyiv conjointly with Kharkiv and Lviv, takes part in the competition for the opening of an IBM center support. If Kyiv wins the contest, the city will create an additional 2,000 jobs for IT-specialists.
