President Viktor Yanukovych took part in launching a new blast furnace at JSC Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works, the construction of which is an example of successful investment strategies.
Congratulating the enterprise workers on the event, the President stressed that the new equipment allows not only manufacturing high-quality products, but also reducing the harmful effects of metalworking on the environment. "The modern blast furnace built at the Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works will not only produce high quality cast iron, but, what is important for the city, will significantly reduce harmful emissions into the air – by 40% compared to other furnaces," he said, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
"While developing metalworking in Ukraine, it is very important to solve environmental problems too," Yanukovych said, praising the attention of the plant owners and management to the issue.
According to the President, further production improvement and modernization would allow maintaining high quality of goods made by Yenakiieve metallurgists. "Step by step we will be improving the quality, increasing competitiveness, and raising the level of environmental safety," Viktor Yanukovych said.
