The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine estimated the losses of the expected poor harvest of winter crops at the level of 2 bln UAH, and Ukraine may lose winter crops throughout the areas of nearly 2 mln ha, declared Sergei Kvasha, Director of the Department of economic development and agrarian market of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, on December 5, AgriMarket.Info reported.
According to S.Kvasha, nearly one third of the sowing areas have very bad and poor condition, that is why agrarians have to resow one third of the present sowing areas.
S.Kvasha suggested that during the spring field works in 2012, Ukrainian agrarians will compensate the losses of winter crops at the expense of increasing of maize and soybean sowings.
