Third of Ukrainians tolerant towards prostitution

The majority of Ukrainian society considers sex trade unacceptable, the head of the Yeremenko's Ukrainian institute of social research Olga Balakyriova says. 

"Presently, prostitution is growing in Ukraine. There is a demand, and there is supply. Women offering sex services have always been treated with certain disrespect. If we look at Ukraine's public norms we will see that the majority of the society considers prostitution unacceptable," Balakyriova said.

In his turn, Oleksandr Litus, a consultant of the Health Ministry of Ukraine specialized in dermatovenerology, added that in accordance with the statistics, 40% of Ukrainians disapprove prostitution, 25% do not have clear position and 31% are tolerant of sex services.
