Defense Ministry of Ukraine jointly with the Ministry for social policy is working on the increase of official salaries for militaries up to the level of state officials, Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel told ForUm in an interview.
"This will allow increasing salaries of all categories of military personnel by 25% at the average," he said in particular.
According to the Defense Minister, the state budget for 2012 also provides for increased salaries for officers, contract soldiers and civil workers, as well as for the construction of housing for militaries.
Yezhel noted that the Ukrainian army now feels the state's and government's care. "The defense department is being financed without delays. The state has found means for increase of salaries for officers and contract soldiers. At the end of the year we increased financial awards for militaries by 20% at the average. Contract soldiers received implementation to their salaries amounting 280-420 hryvnias, and officers - from 300 to 450 hryvnias.
