Appeal Court of Kyiv has started a preliminary hearing of the lawsuit applied by Yulia Tymoshenko against conviction in the gas case. Tymoshenko is not present in the courtroom because of some health problems.
Olena Sitaylo is the reporting judge, who was appointed the day before the preliminary court session replacing Iryna Horb, who had been preparing for the case during the given time.
Today's hearing's agenda includes consideration of changing the measure of restraint for Tymoshenko and holding a court investigation into the case.
At the beginning of the session Tymoshenko’s defense immediately announced a motion to disqualify Judge Olena Sitaylo, declaring it is impossible to prepare to the case during two days.
Judge Sitaylo denied the motion and explained that her appointment is a result of the automatic distribution of cases.
