President Viktor Yanukovych believes that further development of political dialogue between Ukraine and Israel will strengthen the existing trade and economic, investment, scientific, military, and cultural ties between the states, he told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

The President pointed out the fact that this year, the agreement on visa-free travel between our countries has come into force. "This is certainly an important achievement. Already now, we are witnessing the increased trust and understanding between the nations. Citizens of Ukraine and Israel benefited from that and it means that both states win," said Viktor Yanukovych. He added that the government is constantly working to create favorable conditions for business and investment.

In this regard, the President drew attention to the agreement signed between the two countries last year on cooperation and mutual protection of investments.

The next stage in the development of economic cooperation between Ukraine and Israel would be a free trade agreement, said Viktor Yanukovych. "We are working intensively with the Israeli side in this direction and have achieved a significant progress,” he said.

The President said that currently, the economic ties between our two countries are developing successfully. "In the first half of 2011, a 15% growth in trade with Israel was registered... The general trend shows improvement," said Viktor Yanukovych.
