The participants of the march were holding candles with mourning ribbons. At the memorial the march joined the solemn ceremony, which gathered more than five thousand people.
All Orthodox and Catholic confessions, as well as representatives of Muslim community held joint service in the memory of the fallen.
At 4 p.m. the nation-wide action "Lit the candle" began, when all citizens of Ukraine lit their candles and held a moment of silence.
All Presidents of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych with families, representatives of the Kyiv city adminsitration and people's deputies took part in the ceremony.
