Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dispelled rumors that he allegedly intends to attend the EurAsEC summit in Moscow on December 19, the day of the planned EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv.

"On December 19, I will be where I should be,” said President Viktor Yanukovych when answering journalists’ questions about his working schedule for December 19. "We have already got used to politicians carrying on intrigues. And there is nothing new in it to me. I have never provided any information on where I would be on December 19," he said.

The President also stressed that the Ukraine-EU Summit scheduled for December 19 is of great importance for Ukraine. He reminded that the event is preceded by lots of preparatory work with the European Union, including on the Association Agreement and a comprehensive free trade.

President said the question of the Association Agreement including the prospects of Ukraine's membership in the EU, which Ukraine insists on, remains open. "Our partners said neither ‘yes’, nor ‘no’. The negotiations continue. It is hard to tell, what their result will be. There is enormous work going on," said Viktor Yanukovych. He stressed that everything Ukraine does in the framework of its European integration is aimed at achieving European standards of living for the state and its citizens.
