Citizens of Ukraine coming to Russia for work will be obliged to confirm in writing the knowledge of the Russian language, the head of the Russian migration service Konstantin Romodanovski told the press.

"The law is equal for everyone," he said.

The official noted that the law has passed it first reading in the Russian parliament. "We will insist on holding tests for elementary knowledge of the language," he added.

According to him, the language test will cost 2.5 thousand rubles or cheaper.

At the same time Romodanovski pointed out that the introduction of such norms is first of all connected with lack of knowledge among migrants from Middle East.

According to him, there 9.1 million foreign citizens in Russia, and 15% of them are from citizens of Middle East countries under 26 years old, who never studied in soviet schools and do not speak Russian.

"The knowledge of the Russian language is the basis of the integration process," Romodanovski summed up.
