The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution on pension increase for Chernobyl disaster liquidators, vice PM Serhiy Tihipko told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the average pension for Chernobyl disaster liquidator will make 4129 hryvnias from the next year, against current 1815 hryvnias of pension. 

Tihipko also informed that the Cabinet increased pensions for disabled children of Chernobyl from 380 UAH up to 994 UAH and for citizens with disability resulting from the Chernobyl disaster: disability groups I, II and III will get 1553 UAH, 1294 UAH and 1225 UAH respectively. 

Unemployables, which lost supporters due to Chernobyl disaster, will get 3749 UAH of pension.
The vice PM reported that the necessary means for pensions increase make UAH 1.9 milliard. According to him, 500 million are provided by the state budget, and 1.4 milliard are expected from taxes on luxury and offshore operations.

"With the tax on luxury the state budget expects to get UAH 800 million annually, and with the tax on offshore operations - minimum UAH 3 milliard," Tihipko noted.

"Transactions with companies registered in offshore zones will be taxed. Just with the help of such operations large business usually minimizes its tax obligations. We propose to introduce a 12 percent duty for operations with offshore zones. The funds received from this tax will go to the Pension Fund for payment and rise of pensions, and this is about UAH 1 billion (1 USD - 7.98 UAH)," he said.

Currently, according to Tihipko, expansion of a list of offshore zones is being prepared, from 33 to 68. "This will allow to additionally get another almost UAH 2 billion for our pensioners," the official said.

The vice PM specified the list does not include Cyprus, as this country is an EU member.
