Lithuania is ready to invest EUR 22 million in construction of the plant for chemical fertilizers production near Kherson (Ukraine's south), as well as EUR 20 million - in organization of turkey meat production near Kyiv, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lithuanian Republic to Ukraine Petras Vaitiekunas told in an interview to UKRINFORM.
According to him, Lithuanian business in Ukraine is very much interested in agricultural production. "Here (in Ukraine - Ed.) there are not enough capacities for processing of milk, meat, and in particular, vegetables and fruits for long storage and canning. According to Lithuanian businessmen, this niche is far from being filled in Ukraine," the Ambassador noted.
At the same time, Vaitiekunas underscored that main Lithuanian investors still are beyond Ukraine waiting for more attractive conditions for business development.
"There is much available money in Lithuania. By estimates of some experts and our entrepreneurs, we invest maximum 20% of our possibilities. Figuratively speaking, we invest in the Ukrainian economy hundreds of millions of dollars, but we could invest billions. But still our investors stay abroad and are waiting for the suitable moment," he said.
The diplomat also informed that Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania Viktor Yanukovych and Dalia Grybauskaite during a meeting in Kyiv will discuss the issues concerning Ukraine's reaching the associated agreement with the EU on the free trade area, the visa free regime and other aspects.
"We hope for an effective dialogue for reaching this aim and actively support Ukraine on the way to Eurointegration," Vaitiekunas said.
In addition, the Ambassador added, Presidents will also discuss the issues of economic, regional and political cooperation, expansion of the security zone and the humanitarian sphere.
"I hope we will reach progress in our relations and more active, pragmatic cooperation aimed at reaching concrete results," the Lithuanian diplomat noted.
