"Of course the marriage certificate does not have legal force, but it means a lot for couples," gay wedding planner Tamara Petrovna told. The ceremony is held in one of gay clubs, and 20 couples have got married for the last two months.
"We are receiving couples from all over Ukraine. Our ceremony is like the traditional one, including Mendelssohn march and declamation. The grooms also step on a towel to determine who will play the leading role in the family; one of them throws a bouquet. The marriage certificate resembles the traditional one, but made on a blue paper. After the signing ceremony the couples exchange rings, mostly silver ones, and drink champaign," Petrovna explained.
According to her, parents of the grooms are rarely invited, but other relatives and friends are plenty. Wedding cake is also a rare occasion, but the couples always go on honey moon trip.
