Doctors who examine Ukraine's Former Prime Minister, leader of the opposition Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko, must pay serious attention to her treatment, as in this resonant case the state must show the "highest humanism", first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk said in an interview to UKRINFORM.
"I am deeply convinced that if we are a humane state, and we see ourselves in such a way, here we must show the highest humanism, which can be demonstrated... The one who swore the Hippocratic Oath bears important internal responsibility, and formally - criminal responsible for not raising the alarm today, if this disease is really present," Kravchuk stressed.
According to him, if something happens to Tymoshenko in jail, it will be the biggest mistake of Ukrainian law enforcement system. "If there is something wrong, God forbid, I do not believe in it, it will be the biggest mistake in the history of Ukraine that the police and our courts made. The biggest historical mistake," Kravchuk underscored.
BYuT-Batkivshchyna MP Serhiy Vlasenko, Yulia Tymoshenko's lawyer, said the former prime minister, who has been imprisoned since August 5, does not receive any medical care during the past two weeks.
First deputy chairman of the opposition Batkivshchyna party, Oleksandr Turchynov, said they had addressed an open letter to international organization, asking them to help towards necessary arrangements for proper diagnosis and treatment of Yulia Tymoshenko and other political prisoners.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Health Minister Oleksandr Anishchenko said last week said a Health Ministry commission was ready to again examine former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko outside jail and conduct an MRI examination if there is a respective court ruling. He added that Health Ministry experts tried to examine Tymoshenko for over 20 times, but she consented only to five examinations. He said that doctors had examined Tymoshenko and that she was currently receiving medical treatment.
