The next week the East of Ukraine (Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv regions) will face an outbreak of flu, Health Minsitry official Andriy Oleksandrin informed, ForUm correspondent reports.

"There are two types of flu viruses in Ukraine - A and B (72% and 28% respectively). We expect that within the next weeks Ukraine will face flu epidemic," he said.

Oleksandrin reported that 152 thousand people had been vaccinated, which makes only 0.33% of the population. For comparison he gave an example of Russia, where the number of vaccinated is 30% of the population.

Oleksandrin also informed that according to the statistic data 174 thousand people got sick with flu, and 46% of the number is children.

Doctor Natalia Vinnik pointed out that children less than 5 year-old, older people, people with chronic diseases or diabetes and pregnant women are in the group of high risk. These categories are especially recommended to hold vaccination.

"Unfortunately, vaccination in Ukraine is not obligatory. But due to the low level of vaccination Ukraine cannot wok out collective immunity," she said.
