Privileges for the deputies must be partially cancelled and the Party of Regions is ready to vote for corresponding changes to the legislation, PR deputy Volodymyr Zubanov said.
At the same time he underlined that privileges must be cancelled within reasonable limits. "The MPs cannot be left without salaries or without paid trips to districts. For example, a trip to Lutsk costs 14 thousand hryvnias, including accommodation and food for a deputy and his assistant," Zubanov said.
"But privileges, like housing provision and payments for personal accommodations at the expense of the state budget must be cancelled. Future parliamentarians must solve these questions at their won expenses or at the expenses of their political forces. Under current conditions it is dangerous to provoke the society with such privileges," the MP noted.
Zubanov also pointed out that MP's salary must be high. According to him, a deputy cannot get the same salary as an average manager - 1.5-2 thousand dollars. "Do we want to put MPs in line with average managers? Do we want to have the most worthy candidates or we want to make fun of our parliament? That's why we need a compromise regarding privileges," the MP summed up.
