Ensuring the competitiveness of Ukraine’s economy and facilitating its further dynamic development is one of the main tasks of the government, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with candidates for regional state administrations chairmen, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
The President drew attention to the importance of creating new jobs and strengthening social protection. "We should provide jobs and decent wages. And to those unable to work further we should provide social protection," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
In addition, President Yanukovych stressed it is necessary to improve innovation and investment model, which will increase effectiveness of domestic policy and economic development.
In this context, Viktor Yanukovych pointed out the necessity to work continuously on the modernization of Ukrainian enterprises. "It is necessary to implement energy-saving technologies that will enable us to make products with competitive price," he said.
He stressed that investment in the national economy means not only the prospect of development of the state, but also the ability to create new jobs and increase the production of goods with high added value. "We should think of how to process our raw materials, how to improve technologies at different stages," he said.
Ukraine should aim to introduce advanced and promising world technologies, he said. "We need to create all the conditions for the development of science, innovation, new technologies," the President said.
