The Ukrainian side is ready to send observers to the parliamentary elections in Russia, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said during a meeting with Russian Duma chairman Boris Grizlov, ForUm learned from the press office of the parliament.

At the meeting the parties called for holding common sittings of the subject committees of the Ukrainian and Russian parliaments and exchanging visits of parliamentary friendship groups. Lytvyn also called for strengthening the interparliamentary cooperation during the international parliamentary forums.

Ukraine's speaker attaches great importance to the sphere of bilateral interregional cooperation. He called for attracting local self-government bodies of Ukraine and Russia to the negotiations to develop regional investment and economic capacities.
