Party of Regions faction member, deputy head of the parliamentary committee on Justice Valeriy Bondyk said that both the opposition and the government are interested in open and fair parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

"Both the majority and the opposition are interested in holding democratic elections. It's time to stop making Europe laugh. Here come the recommendations of the Venice Commission, which have been always taken into account. They were taken into account in 2004, and in the law on presidential election they were registered as a separate segment, special one," the politician said during Internet conference, held by "GolosUA."

The politician welcomed the establishment of parliamentary commission on elaboration of a new draft electoral law, headed by an opposition MP.

Commenting on possible reaction of the Venice Commission on a new draft bill, MP pointed out that "recommendations, I reiterate, were taken into account, but again, no recommendation is a dogma."

"We have our own practice, we have our own national legislation, and with all due respect to the Venice Commission its role and its right are reduced to, so to say, deliberative body. Since we have already declared our movement to Europe, we respect all recommendations, but adopt own legislation that meets the needs and aspirations of our voters," Valeriy Bondyk said.
