
He informed that the council received materials from several MPs with a request to investigate and dismiss some judges of the Supreme Court.
Gavryliuk explained that in 2009-2010 the mentioned judges groundlessly changed the punishment for criminals, sentenced for life, replacing it with 15 years of imprisonment.
He noted that the matter concerns 15 criminal cases against people, conducted grave crimes.
"Despite the fact that Appeal Courts and Supreme Court confirmed the punishment back then, the cases were revised later by some judges," the official underlined.
According to Gavryliuk, some judges have already resigned.
Gavryliuk also refuted information on that the investigation by the Supreme justice council is pressure on the Supreme Court. As a reminder, Supreme justice council has authority to recommend the parliament or president on dismissal of judges.
