October 26, during the official visit of Ukrainian delegation to the Russian Federation, National Bank head Serhiy Arbuzov met with acting Finance Minister of Russia Anton Siluyanov and representatives of Russian national bank and Gazprom.
According to the NBU press office, the parties agreed Ukraine can pay for Russia gas with Russian rubles.
The agreement enables the Ukrainian side to avoid currency fluctuations while paying for imported goods from Russia, including Russian gas.
The National bank of Ukraine intends to continue the policy of currency diversification regarding payments with its main trade partners, including the European Union, Russia, China and others, the report says.
