Foreign Ministry of Ukraine welcomes the resolution of the European Parliament, which offers Ukraine a European prospective after achievement of certain criteria, FM spokesman Oleg Voloshyn told a briefing.
"Foreign Minsitry welcomes the decision to recognize Ukraine's aspirations pursuant to Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union, provided that all criteria are met. It is a big victory for Ukraine," he said.
Voloshyn informed that the next round of talks between Ukraine and EU on Association agreement will be held soon, and expressed a hope the EU representatives will take into account the resolution of the European Parliament.
At the same time Voloshyn declared that Foreign Ministry of Ukraine does not want to conclude an open-ended agreement on Association with the EU.
"We don't want an open-ended agreement. It means that Ukraine can be at the same stage of relations with the EU for 20 or 30 years," he said.
According to the FM spokesman, setting up of a certain expiry date would motivate the EU to pass to a new level of relations with Ukraine in the future.
