National council of Ukraine on TV and radio broadcast will hold a repeated contest on issuing licenses for digital broadcast among local and regional TV channels, chairman of the council Volodymyr Manjosov told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"As a result of the first contest the majority part of frequencies for regional providers remained unclaimed. We just could not choose winners of the contest. Besides, a number of winners, which got the licenses for digital video broadcast, later refused from their victory. Hence, these frequencies are also put out for repeated tender. The National council is preparing the second round, and total 172 frequencies will be put out," he said.

As a reminder, after the first contest of the national council, all nationwide Ukrainian channels got the licenses for digital video broadcast.

In accordance with international obligations, after 2015 Ukraine is obliged to have only digital television on its territory and to switch off the analog one.
