President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine has signed into law the bill strengthening accountability for drug trafficking, UKRINFORM reported referring to the press service of the head of state.
The law on amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences and the Criminal Code of Ukraine to increase responsibility for the illicit traffic in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, toxic or potent drugs and intoxicants was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on October 6.
The law strengthens penalties for committing certain crimes and administrative violations in the field of drug trafficking.
In particular, it criminalizes the use of money derived from illicit traffic of toxic or potent substances, toxic or potent medicines.
