Combating cyber crimes in Ukraine will be carried out in five directions, head of the Interior Ministry department on fighting cyber crimes Ruslan Pahomov told a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports.

"For the last several years the department on fighting cyber crimes has undergone four reorganizations. Now we are on the final stage," he said.

According to Pahomov, his department will combat cyber crimes, following five directions: information security (illegal access, spam, creation of computer viruses), telecommunication sphere (forgery, death threats, interference into private life), prevention of illegal content distribution (pirated production, pornography, violence cult), business activity (control over providers and representatives of telecommunication services, including forums, chats, internet-pharmacies), computer intelligence.

In his turn, coordinator of OBSE projects in Ukraine Lubomyr Kopay noted that modern criminals use IT technologies for conducting their crimes, which means the law enforcement agencies must be one step ahead. "There is a number of special trainings, planned for officials," he added.

Independent expert Luban Petrovych added that the majority of social networks, forums and chats use a code, which is impossible to read. "Program developers suggest a decision, but it must be legalized," Petrovych summed up.
