Deputy head of the EU representative office in Ukraine Maria Yurikova believes it is impossible to work out effective laws and to solve urgent social problems without taking into account gender perspectives.

"The state agencies are incapable to render high-quality service, if they do not think about gender needs," she told a briefing after the conference on gender equality, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to experts, presently there are many cases of derogation of women's rights in Ukraine, including discriminating statements of the authorities' representatives, absence of women in the government and denial of access to decision making, prohibition for women to study in higher education institutes of the Interior Ministry, pension reform, which derogates women from their rights and others.

The experts also point out that the state ignores the necessity to form a special system on rendering assistance to women, suffered from domestic violence.
