Ukrainian national team on karate was unable to take part in the world championship, being held in Turin, Italia, because the sportsmen were denied visas.
The European Commission refused to comment on the visa situation, saying the issue is in competence of EU countries. "We do not have information on the issue you raised. The European Commission does not have comments for the moment," EC representative in Ukraine Michele Cercone declared.
According to press secretary of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Oleksandr Dykusarov, the Ukrainian team was denied visas because the Olympic Committee of Italy had not provided the confirmation of the visit.
